The Zenei was built for discovery, not war. Crewed by five thousand android scientists,
the deep-space vessel carries the hope and legacy of the Butsuree civilization—a dying
people searching the stars for knowledge, survival, and a future beyond their fading
world.

Then the Zenei discovers an alien armada on a course toward Butsuree space: tens of
thousands of living ships, vast enough to crush entire worlds and strange enough to
defy everything the crew understands about life. Outmatched and far from home,
Captain Albert must decide whether to fight, flee, or search deeper into enemy territory
for answers that may already be too late.

But as fear, grief, and doubt begin to fracture his command, Albert faces another
danger: the emotions his kind were never meant to carry. To save their creators, the
crew of the Zenei may first have to become more human than they ever believed
possible.
